Welcome to the UPLGA Website
Description of Event
1. This is a 4-day, individual golf tournament with a long history going back to 1920! The last time Portage Lake hosted this event was 16 years ago in 2009! You do NOT need a low handicap to play in this event because there will be several flights.
2. First day is an 18 hole stroke play qualifier. The score you golf will be used to put you in a flight bracket with similar skilled players. Low gross winner will be awarded a prize. Skins and proximities will also be awarded. Player scores can also count towards a team event. Each course can have one 4-person team. A low team gross and low team net will be awarded.
3. Each flight bracket of 8 players will then play match play over the next 3 days. Each day will be an 18-hole match. In match play, you can win, lose or tie a hole. The match is played until one player has won the majority of the 18 holes.
4. Prizes will be awarded to the winner, runner-up, consolation bracket winner and beaten two for each flight, so there are many opportunities to win a prize!
5. There will be evening dinner events Saturday and Sunday night, continental breakfast each day, and lunches available for purchase.
6. There will be great prizes with lots of fun meeting other UP golfers! You can test your skills against others while staying and playing your home course!
